Why Won't Catholicism Allow Women Priests? (#AskBishopBarron)

a lot of people I know say unless the church allows women to be priests or have more of an active role they're not gonna be part of it yeah it's a famously complicated issue and I can't possibly get into all the angles of it and just make this observation alignment has to do with power and the right constru love power power for us is not primarily an institutional manner as though unless and until I get institutional power I'm not really powerful in the church power comes from being a saint the Saints are those who have so surrendered their lives to Christ that he's able to work powerfully through them so for example in the 19th century in France who were the question about it the two most powerful Catholics were Bernadette of Lourdes and to reserve the CEO to women to Saints who allowed the power of Christ to move through them in this deeply transformative way I would say to those who want power in the church look first for that power and you can start being a saint today nothing stopping you man or woman child anyone can be a Saint Thomas Aquinas said you want to be a saint will it want it desire it and that can happen today and there's no institutional obstacle to you and then you really channel the power that can change the world so you don't have to be a priest to do that no and that's it priest exists for one purpose in the church to serve the lady priests are there to make the lady holy that's our job the whole purpose of the church for everybody is to become a saint that's that line from lay on bro I love which is there's only one real sadness in life not to be a saint everything else is trivial the one sadness is that you miss your opportunity to be a saint so the whole purpose of sacraments liturgy prayer priesthood everything is to make Saints you know so people can overstate the importance of priests and priesthood priests are servants of sanctity well start being a saint today

His implication is correct. Very few women or men realize their potential ministry within the church. How many women or men even pray everyday to discern what their ministry in the church should be?

He definitely is a smart man, and he avoided answering the real issue very elegantly. Its as if the church has come up with very sophisticated arguments to circle around it. If everything else is trivial, why not let women become priests?
But the issue remains, the CC is still a very man-driven institution and its gonna have to change and adapt to the times, if it truly wants to survive. The rate at which new and young priests are joining the church is falling at a dramatic rate, especially in historically catholic countries, like Spain, Mexico and Ireland. And i think the church can perfectly adapt to the new times without having to give up the principles on which it is based.

Although he didnt answer the question, i think he got a point that we should not get caught up with power struggle and equality at all cost in the church, then we miss the whole purpose of being a Christian, which is to love and serve others.

For other video that closely answer that question, you can watch the second half of this video

He did answer the question. Woman want to become priests because they feel they are opressed from attaining that position of a perceive of power, which is an error. The focus needs to shift, hence the examples of St Bernadette and St Theresa who are venerated as some the highest saints and have a higher place in heaven than many priests will ever attain.

And that is the whole truth and nothing but the Truth Because as a real bad sinner she believe there was a messiah coming to save her and tell her all things and as an ex male chauvinist who argued with a lady priest about not being called a father which I'm sorry a call preacher not father's but everybody your responsible for ur own Salvation so read it for your self John 4 And Accept the living water and Have faith and BELIEVE the Gospel and don't wait to hear from Jesus himself like some in town remember u can move a mountain if u have faith and remember live John17 and psalm 24 And revelations 22:17 Lord Hav-Mercy ,a sinner !

The Samaritan at the well is the first evangelist preacher sent by Jesus to reveal himself when he told her to call her husband he then reveal himself she said your a prophet and she said when the messiah comes he will tell us all and Jesus I Am He ! He knew as a women she would talk She then took off and revealed him to the whole town which came to hear to jesus and BELIEVE after they heard Jesus speak but Jesus revealed before he ask peter the questions ho do they say i Am ? There where only demons revealing him like John who preached of his coming she preached he is here !

Many Catholics would leave if the Church suddenly turned Mainline Protestant. That Mainline Protestant denominations are disappearing because they bend to pressure from the world.

Rules : Disgraceful
Has anyone ever told you about any of these verses? Almost certainly not. Yet, they are basic, and have been in the Bible for thousands of years! { It is unmistakable clear}
1Corinthians 14:34
Women should remain silent in churches. They are not allowed to speak,
but must be in submission , as the law says.
1Cointhians 14:35
If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their husbands at home,
for it is disgraceful for a women to speak in the church.
1 Timothy 2:10-14  But with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
It is the craft of Satan to make us think and speak of the Divine law as uncertain or unreasonable, and so to draw us to sin; it is our wisdom to keep up a firm belief of God's commands, and a high respect for it.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Ephesians 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.
Matthew 5:19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!
Hebrews 10:26  For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more a sacrifice for sins,
Isaiah 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.   Colossians 2:8   Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ.
Proverbs 28:9 If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.
Can the Father be any more clear?Psalm 75:8 The LORD holds a cup in his hand, filled with the strong wine of his wrath. He pours it out, and all the wicked drink it; they drink it down to the last drop.
Matthew 5:19   Gods wrath comes on those who are disobedient
John 15:6  If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.
So than, let no  religious Preacher,  Minister , Pastor , Church or anybody tell you any  different.    Proverbs 28:9  If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

It's amazing how hard this question is to answer. This may be an issue the Church has yet to really wrestle with (as with the topics of the early ecumenical councils), because no matter where I look, no one seems to have a solid answer! Doesn't mean they're wrong, but it is interesting. We need another great figure to delve into this!!

He never answers the question, but in this instance, he at least still provides the best possible instruction to combat the argument and fight for the immediate requirements and aspirations.

This is what the Roman Church actually teaches concerning male priesthood. Since Jesus is male then all priest must be male since the priest becomes the literal embodiment of Christ at the altar. Hence, what the bishop says about the priest providing holiness to his congregation. Catholic dogma understands the priest upon ordination to receive not only gifts of ministry but this gift of embodiment and since Christ was male; Christ’s priest must be male. (Vatican II Presbyterian Ordinis Introduction Dogmatic Constitution on the Church Lumen Gentum). No where in scripture will you find this theology being developed. It is PAGAN! The pagan religions understood the hierophant(the priest) becoming the literal embodiment of the god on earth and actually speaking the god’s words through the priest’s mouth. The best modern equivalent to this would be new age channeling. One would do well to challenge the pope’s claim as vicar of Christ which literally means Christ’s representative on earth.

Other churches of Christ see the priest or pastor as merely officiant at the altar not the embodiment of Christ rather servant. Rather the the Eucharist itself is the only embodiment. The Holy Spirit gifts the whole congregation with gifts for ministry and sets the pastor apart for those gifts which are purely pastoral but never is he or she understood to make his or her congregation “holy” by virtue of his or her position.

Jesus is the power and the authority not us. The Holy Spirit makes us holy not the ordained. Now I completely understand why the Roman Church is having problems with its leadership “lording” over its congregations. Humble yourselves before the Lord! Furthermore, where in scripture is there a prohibition against woman serving as presbyters of Word and Sacrament. You completely avoided the question to talk about power which by the way IS NOT our own but belongs to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and empowers us through the Holy Spirit to live daily in Christ-that is what makes a saint!

Name one paedophile priest who would want female priests keeping and eye on them.

Imagine how female priests might react to the coverup of historical abuse.

Might be very expensive for the Vatican.

Hardly hardly surprising there is so much resistance.

One of women's purpose in life to procreate. This is a sacred duty assigned only to women. 2000 years ago women were housewives and attended to their home needs, and men worked. This tradition has continued. However if times have changed, christian dogma has not. Its all still the same. Not even the Pope can change traditional dogma. So where does the question of women becoming priest arise. The sanctity of the Catholic Church will continue as long as tradition is followed. Vatican II may have tweaked tradition a bit to make the church more inclusive.

Cos it comes more from a political or personal desire to be socially accepted and relevant rather than be humble and accept the teaching of the church where ur role to serve is already defined

That feminist interest is absolutely intramundane, is has not the smallest particle of devotion. Admitting it would be like prostrating the church to the world and its lunacy instead of God. Feminism and other -isms are but sources of moral and spiritual corruption.

Interesting diversion answer that didn’t

Though to be fair I’m sure that answer may
Be a difficult one that requires a serious look
At traditional and historical reasons and can’t
Be answered in under 2 minutes.
