you say I don't want to see I'm not gonna say it you say I don't feel comfortable with it it's Jesus he's I'm not gonna call Jesus on this he's too radical we're gonna get on it we're gonna get strung up if we put Jesus on this seriously but yeah it's too far so yeah what do you will let you say what do you call a female dog I dare you to say it hear it yeah Jerry to be like Jesus yeah go Jesus on this way I dare you above in the Bible walk through welcome to Bible walk 3 on West Warner I'm Adam Ayres and we're going right to Jesus's you know most hip hop like verses and that and the book of mark you might think you're listening to something that's explicit or not for kids but no this is the Bible so let's go to mark 7 starting in verse 24 says he got up and departed from there to the region of Tyre and Sidon he entered a house and did not want anyone to know it but he could not escape notice instead immediately after hearing about him a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit came and fell on his feet now the woman was Greek a Sarah Phoenician by birth and she kept asking him to drive the demon out of her daughter and he said to her allow the children to be satisfied first because it isn't right to take the children's bread throw it to the dogs but she said to him Lord even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs so we told her Shh because of this reply you may go the demon has gone out of your daughter and when she went back to her home she found the child lying on her bed and the demon was gone what do you think is one last I'm gonna let you step on the fire first what I just don't like it I don't like did well you you can explain the academic view of the word dogs everything I don't think I have to explain the academic view we know what I mean what do you call female dog I know I just specially if you're a hip-hop player right I mean that that's a draw victori term for us yeah well you can point you explain the the context of that and come on dogs go ahead dogs dogs dogs what does that mean why is Jesus calling her a dog well is it insulting to call somebody a dog now sometimes I can call my friend what up dog yeah okay but there are other words for dog there isn't that we're not gonna say in a Bible walkthrough okay what would you call it we'll just viewer just call up in your mind the words what would you call a dog there are male dogs and there are female dogs what do you call dogs hmm is that acceptable language for people to use if you were to I mean if I were to call your wife hey Wes you gonna bring your dog with you or are you gonna bring your who are you talking about you know oh I know are you to say it I don't have the courage the Jesus has to if you insult I'm pretty good at it but not like Jesus but that one is not acceptable it's not acceptable to say you're gonna bring here why is it not acceptable if Jesus said it but it's it's not I don't think it's acceptable at the time for Jesus to say it that isn't it those are fightin words you don't call someone a dog you call people dogs like Goliath and David call each other dogs mm-hmm okay you dogs are the very lowest that it's calling somebody yep you know yeah you're mine yeah to call someone a dog is that offensive and scholars know that about this passage is this a dog in the Middle East at this time to call somebody that is the lowest insult and it it it pushes you down you know and so I'm gonna give it gonna give food to you and people try to make a lot of the variance of term on Coon a this is a very internment connait you know smaller dogs but dog is doggies dog and it's like saying you need a little help if you go you little yeah it's still just as offensive it's a dog yeah yeah yeah and and they're all people try to interpret this with all kinds of strategies to make Jesus sound nicer to make Jesus sound like well you know the people of tyre and sidon they have to they fed they they they had more power people in the gym that's not the case you know people tired citing in acts they have to come to Herod and beg of him for food there's a breadbasket issue going on here this is one of the interesting things is that Jesus has gone to this region which is not the Jewish region and he's staying in a house and he doesn't want people to know it says it explicitly Jesus went to this house and we don't know if this is a Jewish house or Gentile house but it's certainly in a Sarah Phoenician area okay if it's not a Jewish house if it's a Gentile house Jesus as a rabbi being there is really forbidden you don't go stay with Gentiles yeah okay unclean it's it's there's a very strict ethnic separation you can mention the South in the 50s you imagine some place in the world today where ethnicities just don't mix but either way he's in an area that's not a Jewish area and he's staying in a house that might or might not if it's if it's not a Jewish house he's in big trouble if he is at a Jewish house then they're an ethnic minority here but this Gentile woman just waltzes in mm-hmm that's totally rude cuz if this if he's Jesus staying at a Jewish house she's not supposed to be in the Jewish house mm-hmm you know even in contemporary societies if if you're in it say an Indian community and they're cooking food and you're not rightly clean and you walk into the kitchen they have to throw away the food mm-hmm today because it violates custom so she comes into this house she's a Sarah Phoenician woman pagan a pagan right she's either violating a Jewish house where Jesus is staying at a pig in house mm-hm and shouldn't be there either way she's making a scene that she shouldn't be making because Jesus doesn't want it to be known mm-hmm but she's trying to leverage this social situation to get a favor I'll shut up when you give me a favor he's like shut up shut up as soon as you get the daughter get the demon on my daughter then I'll stop making a scene be it's sort of like showing up a celebrity in a compromised position Jesus in a compromising position especially if she's there it says she hears about it she comes and she boughs down at his feet so now here's the Jewish rabbi in a compromised house with a Gentile woman at his feet the other woman at his feet what exactly enter but a little different response yeah but they reacted the same way they're like well the Pharisees did yeah why are they why is he letting this this chick touch him that way yeah so she's here Phoenician woman she just defiled the rabbi yeah he's like what do you touching me so and she's she's I'm not gonna let go until you do me a favor so she's really violating lots of social norms and putting Jesus in a very precarious position this is not a kind request this is somebody really putting it to Jesus and leveraging him leveraging his Jewishness leveraging his compromised position in this house somehow paying no attention to the fact that she's a woman he's a man she's not a Jew he is a Jew there's not supposed to be dealings between these she just Trump's right in there and grabs hold of his feet or boughs at his feet in a way that makes him unclean and basically says I'm not going till you give me a tip that's okay that's that's pretty hairy mm-hmm so Jesus responds why should I give you anything that's I'm not supposed to give I'm not gonna give good stuff to dogs he has to react indignant at her violation of him otherwise he's not a good Jew he's another good rabbi he can't he can't allow himself to be defiled this way he has to react strongly like get off me I said I saw a a clip I'm not gonna say what the show is but I saw a clip of a guy who does food stuff and he was allowed into ooh a North African Muslim kitchen where only women make these special dishes because it was a TV show and they let him in there on a special exception to to see how the women prepare these dishes and he he asked if he could prepare one and they were pretended but they they made a concession because here's the TV show and it's a foreigner and then he got it done they said okay that's a good job and out of impulse he turned to hug the gal that he was working with this is a Muslim woman in North Africa and he goes to hug and they give her a kiss on the cheek you know she did she's like this okay fast I mean if she had been a Western fighter he'd have been dead right she had her hand up and in his face immediately and and she's shocked it's as though he had pawned her you know it's that shocking for this woman to be doing this team for her to be on the rabbis feet like that showing no regard and Jesus has to react very forcefully to preserve his his situation so he says I don't give anything to and this is dogs you can supply the term it's not right to give the food to the dogs and she responds yeah but hey we'll take the leftovers and there's a trick there because Jesus she has compromised his social position and he puts her in a position by giving her a riddle and the riddle is this I call you a dog how do you react now if you get insistent I have the right to totally reject you right here but if you're willing to take the position of being a dog which is kind of the social payback for doing this violation you have to basically apologize and take a lower social position for intruding and in presuming that much if you're willing to take that lower position you can get your goodies so in order to negotiate Jesus is saying she has to take the position the social position of being a dog there's a riddle you don't take the food and throw it through the dogs and she goes but dogs get leftovers and it's cool that the response here the he said were for that saying and that's why mark mark is probably the more original form rather than the mattheum form we're not gonna do the matthew poem places for that answer because you give that answer you're gonna get what you want not because you came in here and forced my hand but because you were willing to take the position of being the dog it's the only way to get around this saying is to say okay we'll say I'm a dog can I get the leftovers news goes good answer you take that position you take the humble position you accept the insult for coming barging in here insulting and defiling me then I'll give you your goody I don't mind giving you your goody but you're not gonna get it by coming in and forcing my hand as a Gentile in this house when I didn't want people to even know I'm here so he escapes her leveraging and her forcefulness preserves his social dignity and gives her a way out that if she's willing to be humble and stop being so aggressive she can get her goodie and she chooses the right thing she says I'll be humble sure I'll be the dog if that's what it takes me playing a dog sure I'll take it I'm a dog can I get my daughter healed and Jesus goes oh good job good job girl right on yeah for that saying for that answer you answered the riddle rightly you got the key sure and she goes and her daughter's better and what could have been totally explosive has been diffused by Jesus because he insults her he cracks her behavior it preserves his dignity and heals the girl all in one thing and this could have been a news nightmare right local rabbi photos girl at feet in the house at you know where he's hiding so just you can get to be a greater insult than having like that woman that wiped his left her hair on his feet and they said oh she's probably a prostitute or something they're both pretty offensive yeah but to have a Gentile doing this is really really bad even more offensive than at least equally but probably a Gentile is more offensive than a prostitute because well by the way you react are you yeah yeah he totally knee-jerk it's totally different interaction mm-hmm very interesting he's not accommodating you know he will not put up with this mm-hmm it's addressing me to see that this the way he approaches the Gentiles here mm-hmm because there is some other times like when the Centurion came up big I was a Gentile right no that's a train yeah people were the woman at the well or the woman at the well he could see he didn't call them dogs they're entreating they're not highlighting so it's a different kind of approach that they're coming up to him with but here he calls this Gentile woman a dog it's interesting me see the difference in the way he approaches this Gentile woman and but he still has a way for her to get healed if you know bit depending on how she responds and here it's because of her reply like you explained the humility that she showed or in Matthew we're not looking to dab it because of the faith that she had which I still think is interesting because it shows that even in people that are not Jewish there's still way to be saved there's still way to receive healing and salvation so near or far there is still a way to receive the touch of the Lord that you need I like that message in it yeah and he not only gives this way for her to be healed and to tone down her social aggressiveness he also shows her the door he was for the saying you may go you may go we're done here mm-hmm man like this is all over you can go now any it which also is very gracious to say I'm not going to continue to I'm not gonna continue to take offense that you've come in here and violated me mm-hmm it's like why don't you just think no though no I'm not gonna heal her get out here um because Jesus is being gracious yeah he wants to find a way to heal them the girl and to give the gal her request she's just doing it the wrong way that's interesting right there that he didn't say no he was waiting for her to come up with a better response or a better way to approach him yeah it's almost as though Jesus saying I would love to give this to you but not when you asked that way yeah no I can't give this to you when you're demanding and presuming coming in and filing I can give it to you if you're been willing to be humble and give a request kind of like how a parent approaches a child when they don't come up and say please and may I please have this I always wait for my child totally Satan in the right way and they don't give it to them you know kind of like that yeah and while scholars tend to focus on Jesus's response or the offensiveness of Jesus's response they very rarely noticed the offensiveness of the woman for doing this mm-hmm yeah that's true remember that very often she's very offensive well we hope that this has helped you if you're gonna ask something of the Lord take a humble position and if the Lord rebukes you take an even more humble position yes that's the way yeah yeah good point yeah and if Jesus calls you up they just go yeah that's me that's right yes that's me okay we will see you next text and next time on Bible walkthrough thanks for watching

People missed the entire purpose of why Jesus did that . It's was to show even the lowest of the low could be saved by faith and if they believe.

I could not past the 10 minutes of this video. Sounded so ridiculous and so biased.Obviously you guys do not own dogs. The way Jesus spoke to this woman was because He knew she owned dogs and she loved her dogs. Somethings you are mixing up with the woman who washes His feet. Anyway, Jesus in no way would have offended her, and she knew that, that is why she responded he way she did, out of her experience with her dogs, because she threw the crumbs or the left overs to her dogs, like everybody else does. She knew who Jesus was, and she was respectful in the way she approached Him, but she was insisting that Jesus would hear her, she was desperate! Jesus was also testing her faith, because He knew she had faith in Him, you see that by the way she addressed Jesus just like the Jews did.You guys need to think from every angle before you want to teach anything. You've got to talk to people who own dogs, how much a dog can mean to a person, so much that even if Jesus spoke about how wrong it could be to give the crumbs to the dogs, there is no offense taken. I did not appreciate your intention or the way you wanted to make Jesus sound. You probably do not even know Jesus personally.

While you may be correct in his use of the term dog meaning, "little dog," to say that Jesus called anyone a b$&@h is sacrilegious. That is in no way found in the original language used in this passage. Jesus is and never a hip hop, foul language using person.

I like these guys and found their approach interesting but I am challenged to follow the logic given Marks intentions with this passage in relationship to the context (vs1-23) of the issue of uncleanness and Jesus redefining of defilement. Where the Pharisees couldn't persuade Jesus the unclean gentile could. The posture of "even a crumb is enough" is a statement of great faith. It seems his refusal is a silent yes and his use of the word dog actually translates puppies an intentional step away from "kunes" which was the derogatory term used by Jews to "kunaria".

Why would you refer to what Jesus said to be a "hip hop like verse"? Personally that's completely unprofessional, unspiritual, and solely carnal.  Hopefully you'll be enlightened to the idea that something to that nature is completely unnecessary and can easily be perceived as offensive. Jesus referred to the syrophoenician woman according the law and respect of religion of that time.  I could go deeper but I believe you should do some more research before publishing a video.  (assume that you may, if I believe you, I make an ASS out of U and ME – "ASSUME")
