The words meditation and medication are just
one letter different for a very good reason. They both come from the same latin word mediore,
meaning to heal, or to make whole. So whether we use physical means or mental
means our objective is the same. Which is to bring healing or wholeness to the psycho-physical
continuum. There’s a lot of research showing that when we shift our mental state through meditation we put our physical state into
one that promotes healing. The question is, can we use or share the same
state by meditating with a sick pet. It’s too early right now for formal research,
but anecdotal evidence suggests that this is indeed possible. As non-verbal beings, animals tune in quite
naturally to our state of being and they respond accordingly. But meditation has been shown to really help
animals who are sick and also going through difficult times of transition like a change
in household composition or a change in home address and so forth. When we meditate to benefit our pets we benefit
too. So why wouldn’t you?
